I'm very sad. Zoe's been aggressive toward Emma for quite some time now and after some research, I discovered that female boxers should never be placed in homes with other females! I just went back through the posts here, looking at the dogs' baby pictures. Emma is now 6, Jackson 4.5, and Zoe 2. Doesn't seem possible that much time has passed. The pack is doing well. Jack is alpha now and puts Zoe in her place now and then. Zoe and Em have the occassional scrap, too, but this seems to be because they are both female. ( Read more... )

Rain is such a treat here, and today is nicely grey and cold and wet. The dogs and I are enjoying the fire and the patter of rain on the roof.

Gorgeous day at the dog beach. it was Zoe's second visit and she loved it, fetching sticks and leaping over waves. We saw two dead sand sharks.

We had quite an adventure with Miss Z Saturday night. She got hold of a plastic bottle of aspirin around 10 pm and we made the wild dash to the veterinary ER to get her stomach cleaned out. They gave her ipacac and charcoal, which proved to be a tragic combination for our car upholstery, my feet, various patches of carpet around the house ( Read more... )

Zoe was spayed today and came home wearing what Doug refers to as "the cone of shame." She's still pretty glassy eyed. When she tried to walk around and catches her cone on a piece of furniture or doorway, she just stands there until I free and guide her. Poor baby!
