Thanks to a borrowed humane trap and a chicken wing, we caught Skit and took her to the vet to be spayed this morning. The kittens have good homes, and no more will be produced. I miss them, but I'm happy things have come out they way they have. She can hang out happily in the garage with Oscar for the rest of her days. Of course, given what all ( Read more... )

I moved the skittens into the guest bathroom a few days ago. Rufus and Smokey have found a favorite perch.

Leaping
Looking Large
Wrestling
Drinking Water
Eating Solid Food
Using the Litterbox (sometimes)
Scratching
Chasing a Finger
Hiding
Approaching Other Cats

Amazing to think they'll be old enough next weekend for first shots and

The skittens are really enjoying solid food (canned kitten food mixed with cat milk replacer), and at least someone appears to be figuring out the litter box. And they have teeth! They are a bit more steady on their feet and very playful. They wrestle and pounce. I gave them some little cat toys, but I haven't seen them playing with them yet, ( Read more... )

The skittens are five weeks old tomorrow, so I gave them their first solid meal, or gruel, really. Mixed good quality canned kitten food with kitten milk replacer. Smokey and Patches dug right in, but Rufus was not interested. Skit spent the magical moment growling at me from the shadows.

Discovered where the skittens are, in the nastiest corner of the garage, but I'm going to limit contact for Skit's sake. Just really, really glad to know that they're still there and all right.

Two days ago Skit moved the kittens again, and she has only been seen once, by Doug. I have no idea if the kittens are still there, or if she took them away altogether. :-( Someone is eating the food I put out. Hope it's her. They'll be five weeks old on Sunday. As I sat here, revising, I noticed a very tiny preying mantis on the edge of my computer. I got her on my finger and moved her out of the way on the table so I didn't accidentally crush her. She's taken up her position there, apparently waiting for something smaller than herself to come along. I purchased three mantis egg cases earlier this spring ( Read more... )
