I think my fondness for and devotion to the Romantic poets only extends to the Lake poets and maybe John Keats.  I didn't like Shelley and I'm not a huge fan of what little I've read of Byron (and I have no intention of completing Don Juan).  Also, I kind of abhor Blake, though I'm pretty sure this makes me a horrendous English major.  Oh well.  I ( Read more... )

Oh, one thing my creative writing tutor told me was that parts of my poem seemed too "19th Century".  Which, obviously, is a bad thing.

 Okay, I know I said that that Harry Potter article I posted months ago was the funniest thing ever, but I totally take it back.  I found this article today, on how to write love poetry.  Go and glory in it's failure.  I kind of want to email it to my poetry class, but I think that would be awkward, as I don't actually know them.

Last night, when I got off work, I walked outside to gather a bouquet of lilacs for myself and for a friend.  Another friend had passed me when I was at the desk and gave me a spray of lilacs, which motivated me to replace my own wilting bunch.  I wandered amidst them for a while, cutting a few with my ever-useful, ever-present knife.  When I got ( Read more... )
