Last January, when in my 19th Century British Novel class, I distinctly remember my professor saying that Jane Austen said, on her creation of Emma Woodhouse, that she had tried to come up with a heroine that no one would like.  Do any of you know any more about this, or if I'm just sort of creating false memories here?

I really want to buy a copy of The Hobbit in Spanish.  This has been a particular desire of mine since I walked all over Isla Mujeres trying to find a bookstore that sold it, and couldn't find one.  I don't think there was one real bookstore on the whole of that island.  But I'd really rather not spend 10€ on it...and so I didn't buy a copy in ( Read more... )
