My apartment is the back half of the second floor of a house that, a hundred years ago, belonged to a very rich family. This sort of place is rather the rule in the Fan, which used to be a wealthy suburb of Richmond back before the City swallowed it up between the World Wars. Well, I have news. My friend Weeble, who I have mentioned on here before, has been living in an apartment on Monument Avenue. It isn’t a very good apartment, but you pay extra for the return address on your letters saying “Monument Avenue.” Her rent is easily $200 more per month than her place is actually worth. I have figured out what the next thing I buy for the new place should be: one of those boards. You know, those boards, with a name that I do not know. They’re white, and they hang on the wall or whatever, and you can write on ‘em with a marker that’s attached to it by a string, and then wipe it off with a paper towel and start over.
