I always remember that winter in the UK seemed to be devoid of colour and warm sunshine. I can't believe that after the fantastic sky of the night before we were given a second showing last evening....again I was able to enjoy sitting on the balcony in the warm glow of another mild winter day. Drink in hand and snacks to my left I enjoyed the end of the day.

Finally I have had some free time to get out and play with my new camera...my Nikon D5000. It will take a little bit of getting used to, but so far, so good. The rain stopped long enough to be able to take a short walk around the Botanical gardens at Mount Coot-tha.

A very ordinairy morning before work. Tidying up, ironing uniform, doing the laundry and so on. Whilst hanging the washing I noticed some beautiful small orchids that seem to have appeared overninght. Perhaps it was as a result of the rain a few days ago. They are so small (only 20mm) and delicate, and really beautiful.

I love this time of year. Spring is like a new adventure as the flowers and trees come into bloom, almost overnight. The temperatures are usually very mild sitting around 26c (event hough it has been a lot hotter than that recently with days into the low 30's c). ....well, not just yet. However it feels like it and today was just exceptionally mild. We still have a few more weeks until we can say it is spring, and despite the perfect winter weather and temperatures of 24c, there will still be a sting left before we can bid adieu to the cold. But until then we can enjoy the warmth and sunshine.

I have the weekend off and unfortunately Andrew is working. I'm being particularly lazy today and doing nothing in particular. It is now the start of summer and the place is looking very green and everything is growing apace.
