Hibiscus (my fiancé), and Paladin (my husband), went with me down to visit Rooster and Oryx (friends of Paladin and I who Hibiscus had yet to meet) on April 13th 2016. The morning of my birthday I woke and checked the time. It was around seven o'clock. Hibiscus won't be back from the airport for hours yet, I thought. I went back to sleep and woke again around ten o'clock. I dressed in my "wasabi dress" - a custom-made organic cotton dress I had ordered off of Etsy with the money Hibiscus gave me for Christmas.

Two days before my birthday Hibiscus was away in Sunnyland on another business trip. He was only to be gone for two days this time. Hare had canceled her visit with us due to its major overlap with Hibiscus's trip, and her own press for time. We tentatively rescheduled for sometime in March.
