R.I.P. Uncle Lionel
It is a sad grey day in New Orleans. Uncle Lionel Batiste passed away this weekend after an illness had him hospitalized for a short while. The facecrack was blowin' UP this morning with pictures and stories. He was a true New Orleans character who will remain an icon of the city forever.

We are finally in the perfect weather time of year here in NOLA. It isn't even April yet, but we have been having some perfect April-style low-humidity weather, the mornings in the 60's and the highs not more that 81. I just dropped a 4 1/2 pounds pork butt in the crockpot with some bell pepper, onion and a couple of small fresh poblanos from my garden. I'm makin' some crock-pot couchon-de-lait to eat while watching the Saints game tomorrow.
