We survived another Mardi Gras. I have some pictures posted here:

Mardi Gras day was a bit odd this year. I wasn't feeling quite right, but not feeling bad, at least not bad enough to miss the fun. We got up early. I had been waking on and off since 4:30am, and finally got out of the bed and decided to start breakfast and start the costuming process around 6:30am. Tried out a new recipe for Shrimp and Grits...totally easy and very delicious and filling, manchego cheese grits and shrimp sauteed in butter, onions and lemon juice with hot sauce....DEE-lish!!
MA, the house guests and I, along with W- heading down to Canal St. to try and catch the Zulu Parade. We stood around for a while before it came and realized how much different mardi Gras morning was on the OTHER end of the French Quarter, the touristy end. Less than 10% of folks in costume, most of them had been waiting around for more than an hour already for the parade, and most of them here to observe mardi gras, not really participate in it. I haven't spent a mardi Gras Day in 'normal' clothes, probably since the late 80's or early 90's. We caught the first 6 or 8 floats and decided to head to the other end of the quarter in search of 'our people'.
But basically, after too many adult beverages and not enough food, a few folks in our krewe got WASTED and began hitting the pavement, literally, and we decided it was time to go home even though we hadn't made it to the R-Bar or Frenchman street or seen the costumes of all of our favorite friends. It's not that I didn't want to see you, all of you, but I am thankful that I wasn't feeling right that day, opted for drinking water most of the day, and was able to assist my krewe in arriving home safely and with most of their costumes still intact.
I would love to see YOUR pictures, or if you have a flickr link to share, post it in the comments for the masses to enjoy.
