My parents waited around the hospital all damn day on Monday for the doctor to show up, and he decided to do yet another round of surgery, this time taking out the implant, wires, and everything. My dad is still stuck in the hospital, and will be there over the weekend at least. Turns out the leads (wires) going from his implant to his brain also tested positive for infection, so that has to be monitored/cleared up. Meanwhile, it's the weekend for the neurosurgeon, who will be out of town. So, Dad has to wait until Monday to be seen and get ( Read more... )

My dad's in the hospital after having emergency surgery yesterday. He has an implant in his chest that helps with his tremors, and when its battery was replaced a few weeks ago, it apparently wasn't sterile (though it could have been any point in the procedure, because that's how it goes with surgery).
