I watched the rest of Season 3 of BSG recently. It doesn't really reach the heights of earlier episodes, and I find some of the major plot points questionable. OTOH the trial of Baltar is extremely well done.  

 In order to stave off Internet Deprivation Syndrome, I've been watching more BSG on DVD. Some of the plotting is a bit loose, especially when it comes to the religious aspects. But overall, I'm still of the opinion that it's on of the best series' ever developed for tv. Beyond a doubt it is the best tv war story.

 I got Season 3 on DVD. The first four episodes watched together make a kick-ass movie. Excellent stuff: hard decisions, imperfect characters that develop over time... I still think this is the best thing ever made for tv.

I just saw the movie The Wrong Man. Great cast, rather fun dark movie thriller.

I've also purchased and watched Battlestar Galactica S.2. Great gritty stuff. Yes, they do a sort-of sudden change of direction, but watching the last four eps in a row shows they planned it for a while.

Another tv series I'm currently watching is the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica. Great, gritty stuff, flawed people in a pressure-cooker environment having to make life-or-death decisions. And yet, now and then there's a glint of hope in the velvet depths of despair.

Last Wednesday night the current run of Battlestar Galactica ended with a bang: - actually two shots to Adama's gut.

Tonight I see Star Wars III, along with my brother who's birthday was this week.

Tomorrow night I see the New Doctor Who with a group of friends.

It's good to be a geek.

Star Wars. What made it so influentual? The imagery, combined with the simplicity. Of those who saw that movie in the theatre, who will ever forget the opening scene, the rebel starship being followed by that neverending gargantuan spaceship? I can't believe my niece is 19! It seems not long ago she was 5. I feel old.

I'm on 2 weeks leave, and plan to catch up with some of my miniature painting/constructing; visit the remaining nieces in Tuncurry; see some movies.
