The big move happened last night with the able assistance of my parents and Beej. Most of my stuff is in, the notable exception being my massive and beautiful bookcase, which fits in neither the lift nor the stairs. My dad has plans to cut off a shelf. Y'know how a few weeks back I managed to kick my laptop off the bed, breaking the latch that holds it closed? Well I discovered this morning that the latch is not the only thing broken; the DVD drive won't eject. I kinda wish I had enough money for a new computer now. :(

In a move of ebelieian proportions, I kicked my laptop off the bed on the weekend and broke the latch that keeps the lid shut. I'm told by someone in the know that replacing this tiny, tiny piece of plastic would take hours and cost hundreds of dollars. Okay, I give up on installing Ubuntu Linux until they come up with a version that gives me a graphical interface. Perhaps it's just one of those things that happens when you take your laptop in for servicing... they find nothing wrong with it and give it back to you. I'm hoping that all the problems have miraculously gone away too. Okay, 'tis done. My beloved lappy has been sent in to the repair shop. Excessively whirring fan, faulty power board and a faulty power cable all just added up to ultimate destruction in the coming summer.
