Originally my Trillian shawl was named "Trillian in the meadow," after the name of the yarn I'm using for it; dork that I am, it was briefly extended to "Trillian in the meadow at Tanagra." I got tired of using the straight needles and ordered myself a pair of Harmony circular tips in the same size, and am now knitting the balaclava flat on circulars and liking it much better. I'm not quite up to halfway through the 6" of this part (the back of the helmet), then I get to do 6" of the top. I'm kind of excited to get to that point ( Read more... )

It's like neon fireworks.The new camera is not ideal for fireworks photography--the lack of a bulb setting is a serious flaw--but if you get the settings right you can still get some damn good photos. It takes very nice photos, too, and doesn't appear to have any autofocus issues ( Read more... )

Thanks to kfops my own photo gallery at Morgi.net is now up. So far it's just the first batch of photos, but now that it's all working right I'll get the rest up in the next few days.

I now have a Flickr account, and am trying to upload photos; however I screwed up and I think I maxed out my upload amount for the month (wtf?) with every single picture I had (whoops) so I may have to wait until tomorrow (assuming it goes by calendar month).

Today we see Malibu and the Calamigos Ranch for the first time.

We found the Canon Powershot G9 at Fry's; it seems to be the sort of thing we're looking for. 12.something megapixels, manual setting, AV setting, TV setting, a ridiculously high macro setting, and a way to adjust the ISO, most of the settings found on our EOS.
