I came home, just before dark, last spring.  As I pulled into the driveway, I noticed what I thought was a mouse laying in my wheel path.  (We have cats, so I figured he was an uneaten kill.)  I swerved around the little pile, parked and went back to dispose of the body.  Imagine my surprise when A) It moved and B) It was a duckling.
