It's over. We got a farewell email from our CEO today.
They were unable to pull the sale off in time, so Transoma is bankrupt.

At least I have two more interviews next week....

We had another layoff at work yesterday.
13 people, which works out to about 20% of the company.
I still have a job. Quite a few of my friends do not.
And once again, I get to pick up the pieces and tidy up after management...

We had another person quit our department on Friday. The fallout started yesterday. She was our last supplier quality engineer (we'd fired the other one in July, see that time period for details on that mess). Senior management responded by restructuring us (again) by reshuffling us under two different managers. This does not really solve anything ( Read more... )

It's almost 8 pm. I'm at the computer, on my second glass of wine, and am about to chronicle one hell of a day, which started with fire though wind and earth and ended with water.

Today is the 6th anniversary of working at TM/DSI. I was thinking about it as I was hauling up the stairs this AM, on my way from one meeting to a day full of quality time with my scanner. I was so friggin happy to have a permanent job when I was hired, after several months of temping. I suppose it only made the tech support fall from grace that ( Read more... )

One advantage of my job is that I am self-directed. Nine days out of ten this means I'm only as bored as I allow myself to be. Right now, there's so much time-sensitive cleanup stuff, I feel guilty for even typing this up while waiting for output files to verify. :>

Tired today. Yesterday was Ethan's last final; we celebrated by going out to dinner at Joe's and having crab and margaritas, then came home and he logged in his lvl 45 paladin and powerleveled my little lvl 21 (now 23) druid through one of the WoW dungeons (Blackrock Depths, for those who care).
