Tired today. Yesterday was Ethan's last final; we celebrated by going out to dinner at Joe's and having crab and margaritas, then came home and he logged in his lvl 45 paladin and powerleveled my little lvl 21 (now 23) druid through one of the WoW dungeons (Blackrock Depths, for those who care). I ended up getting very little sleep last night, around 5 hours, where I typically get 6.5-7.
Today is my logical Friday at work, and it's very quiet here. There's more wandering around and socializing going on than actual work, with the exception of the poor folk on the production floor- they're mired in quarterly cycle counts of parts. Tins and plates of goodies everywhere- some of the engineers boast that during this last week before the holidays, they don't need to bring or buy lunches; they can simply graze across the office and get full quickly. We're shut down next week, so a lot of people are taking advantage of the shutdown and snagging extra time off on one side of the holiday or the other. I only took one day. A lot of today's activities for me are tucking in the ends of projects and tasks before year-end. Getting anything approved today will be impossible, too many people are out.
Ethan's working tonight, so I will go home and chill out. I have a little present wrapping yet to do, so I hope to get that done tonight. Perhaps I will play more WoW tonight. Most likely I will sit on my butt and knit. I'm currently fascinated with baby booties; they're tiny and fun to knit, and the go so fast it's very gratifying. So I'm working up a stash for baby shower presents and getting very good at cabling in the process. I should set up a photobucket account so ya'll can see the things, they're cuter than the components should allow.
The thought of a nice, lazy week off is very appealing, even if there's a lot of running around for the holiday at the start of it. Ethan and I are getting together with Brian and Kim and Ted and Elsie tomorrow during the day. We're having Christmas Eve with my family, and on Christmas Day my brother-in-law Dane's parents invited all the Carruthers over, so that will be a zoo.
I plan on spending the 26th in my pajamas.
I know work will turn into a giant pit of madness in January, and that I will not have many opportunities for time off until... oh, next September, so I'm planning as lazy of a holiday as I can manage.
