I've been bracing for this trip to Australia to not be a break. I'll be telecommuting most days, and the primary reason is a sad one: to see my best mate who's dying of cancer. ( Fuck cancer.) She was put on blood thinners yesterday, and her doctor wants to set her up for regular outpatient treatment. It's not clear to me whether the blood thinners will be in pill form or stick-a-needle-in-your-gut form, but either is better than more blood clots and hospitalisation.

In my previous entry I said dragon_spirit was in ER because of stroke symptoms. The CT scan proved that she didn't have a stroke so it looks like she was just experiencing the side-effects of the bad migraine she was having. It's awful, of course, that she's in such pain (even after pumping her full of drugs they only got down to 7 out of 10) but a relief ( Read more... )

hopeforyou was in ER today for the third time this month. As usual, it was clear that something definitely was going on, but after running a few tests, the medicos had no explanation. They made sure nothing critical was going on and sent her home.

I'm at Jon's place in Canberra right now. It's the first morning in weeks that I didn't wake up and have to deal with something straight away, either work, a bad dream somebody had, having to check out of a motel, or whatever. Instead, I took a hot bath and realised how wound up I am. So much for relaxation.
