Oh, Jesus. Arguably the hardest question in this damn thing. Well, here is a master list of fix recs I have, which I suggest you check out, because it’s insanely hard to pick just one that’s my favorite (seems to be the theme of my take on this meme, eh?).
But I do have to pick one (which, I’m going to cheat and pick five). Evidently. So, um…here they are:
“Reality Check,” by NongPradu. Summary: After a bad hunt, Dean wakes up to find that nothing is as it should be. Rubber rooms and padded walls, with no hope of escape, unless he can convince Sam that he’s not crazy. This is a delightfully trippy fic, with angsty, possibly-crazy Dean and Sam, who may or may not be real. Did I mention it’s awesome?
“ Pinnochio,” by adrenalineshots. Summary: Dean died the first time when he was twelve. It is the only death of the many he experienced that he has no recollection of ever happening. Mainly because, it didn’t happen to him. CREEPY. Super creepy. Amazingly creepy. But fantastic.
“ No one knew me, look right through me,” by rememberbefore. Summary: There are some things the kids at Stanford knew about Sam Winchester, and some they didn’t. A brilliant look at how Sam tried to be normal, and for the most part succeeded, and yet his hunting life still haunted him.
“ Door Number Two,” by kroki_refur. Summary: Tag to “What Is and What Should Never Be.” What if Dean realized it was a dream? Yeah, it’s a premise everyone and their grandma has approached, but this chick is talented. She’s my favorite fanfic author ever.
“Victor, Meet Spoils,” by K Hanna Korossy. Summary: Jus In Bello prequel - In 15 years with the Bureau, Victor Henricksen had never seen a profile quite like the Winchesters’. A brilliant look at how fucking difficult Henricksen’s job was in order to even get a glimpse of where the Winchesters were.
