31 Days of Supernatural - Day 6, Least Favorite Episode

Since episodes on this show tend to range from Fantastically Awesome to Still Good, it’s kind of hard to choose a least favorite; I tend to grade Supernatural on its own curve, to be honest. That said, there’s a few episodes I tend to skip on rewatch. Even fewer are the ones I rarely rewatch scenes from. However, the first one that comes to mind is “No Exit.”
I was-and am not-a Jo hater, per se, but I never really liked her at all until “Good God, Y’all!” and her subsequent, final appearance on “Abandon All Hope...” She was whiny, yet seemed to excel in every area besides that, the attraction between she and Dean felt incredibly contrived and invisible, and she simply rubbed me the wrong way. Because I came into this show mid-fourth season, wasn’t spoiled for the first three and a half, and wasn’t very much in fandom yet, I didn’t know what the “bad episodes” were necessarily. There were not-as-great scenes, and some less-stellar episodes, but “No Exit” was really the first one that I came out of going, “Huh. Won’t be watching that again for a long, long time.” Luckily, sixteen amazing episodes followed, and I was thus able to quickly forget about it.
Even episodes like “Route 666” and “Bugs” I would rather watch again before “No Exit.” Not in entirety, mind you (Cassie has the personality of a damp cardboard box, and the insta!sunrise in “Bugs” made me wince), but scenes like finding out John swung by Stanford every once in a while to check on Sam, or Sam ribbing Dean about Cassie, or Sam’s “Honestly, that thought hadn’t occurred to me” being echoed four seasons later by Dean’s “I had a hunch, I went with it.”) made them somewhat redeemable. I just didn’t feel like “No Exit” had that going for it. Honestly, the only things I really remember about it are Sam being spacey and virtually absent because Jared was on lots of painkillers and had a broken wrist, and Sam and Dean going down into the sewers from that scene on the gag reel.
Anyway. Mileage may vary. (And for the record, I only know the cut quotes because I picked a random spot in the episode and chose the first thing a character said. That should tell you something.)
