duuuuude, this is SO my least favourite episode of S2 for all the reasons you listed!

JO. oooh man, you know it's so hard because Alona is such a sweetheart IRL but Jo; failed. she and Dean had no chemistry and i had no idea why the writers tried to push that on us. she tried so hard and i was whelmed. completely whelmed. and like you say, at least there were good bits about the other bad episodes, this one had no golden moment- only the gag reel makes it memorable!

I know, right?! Alona is a sweetheart, but Jo was just...bleh. She and Dean felt like brother and sister to me. Except maybe in AAH when there was a tiny spark, but nothing I really wanted to see play out. The worst thing about No Exit (I know, how could a pick a worst part?) was that the premise wasn't bad. The ghost of a serial killer? Awesome! The execution was just...awful.

Jeez, I could rant forever about this episode. But I'll stop for now. : )

exactly! it seemed like she was his kid sister, running around trying to impress him and prove she was hardcore. the reason Sam and Dean work is because Dean might wind Sam up all the time but Sam can give as much as he gets- he can stand up to Dean and challenge him- Jo would never have been able to provide the backbone Dean needs from any kind of relationship.

i agree, it was a cool idea but such lame execution. it could have been so much better, plus instead of actually showing us how awesome Jo could maybe have been, they made her into a victim of her own over-confidence. way to go on giving us yet another bamf female character SPN....

not that i'm bitter that we don't actually have that many awesome females at all

I totally agree. Instead of whining about how you're totally badass, Jo, actually PROVE IT. She spent so much time trying to convince the boys and Ellen that she could handle hunting on her own, yet she didn't have the skills to back it up. She would've died if Sam and Dean hadn't been there to save her sorry ass.

That's a good point about Sam--Dean makes fun of him all the time, and Sam looks like he wants to slaughter Dean often, but ultimately they know they can trust each other to have their backs. No way could Jo have the skillset for that. It's (again) too bad; her character could've been decent.

Likewise. ONE DAY WE WILL. Maybe. Hopefully.
