There are so many awesome minor characters in this show it’s ridiculous. As such, I’m going to limit myself to picking from those who made a one-off appearance, otherwise my pool from which to draw would be way too huge. (For the record, I think I’d go with Adam, but then I’d feel bad for not picking people like Henricksen and Andy, so yeah.)
Anywho, I think I’ll go with Mr. Wyatt, Sam’s English teacher from “After School Special.” I just loved him so much for how much he still loved teaching after so many years, how passionate and understanding he was about everything. I mean, how awesome was it that he gave Sam an A on a paper which, to his knowledge, was totally fictional? And even more awesome, he remembered Sam and the paper after over a decade, despite the fact that Sam was only in his class for a month. As if that weren’t enough, he gave Sam the final motivation to go to college. Of course, we know how bloody that ended, but nevertheless Sam got into Stanford, for which he may never have applied if it weren’t for Mr. Wyatt.
I’m sure we won’t see or have mention of the dude again, and that he was meant to be simply another single episode character to add a layer to Sam’s background (plus that meaningful “You’re happy, Sam?” and Sam’s look that clearly says No, I’m not…), but still. I adore him.
