Woke up about 40 minutes ago and can't fall back to sleep. So I'm here surfing the web and posting on my blog.
We picked up GFWTR new Mini Cooper S Clubman last night. GFWTR was very very excited. I will try to post pictures of the "Big" Mini later. It's a pretty nice car with some interesting features. You don't actually have use the key at all just have it in your pocket and the door will unlock for you and the engine starts with the touch of a button.
I shot a USPSA match this past Saturday. Drove to Erie in that snow storm. For fun I shot production division with my carry gun, XD-40 Sub-Compact, and IWB holster. Wow was I slow with my carry gun. I also shot L-10 with my normal L-10 setup, my XD-40 Tactical. I used the same ammunition (Major 40 reloads) in both guns and I bet my times with my CCW are 40-50% longer than my Tactical. The recoil was noticeably snappier in that 2 inch shorter gun and my reloads were slow due to the factory magazine release and short grip/magazines. It was fun anyway.
So about two weeks ago my upper back started acting up. It was sore and stiff. Started with irritation and muscle cramps likely brought on (I'm assuming) from doing that hardwood floor for my parent and all the snow shoveling. As that week went on the pain got worse, I started having muscle spasms in my ribs and back, shoulders, neck and phantom pains in my arms.
I went to the doctor late that week. The doc manipulated my back (IE tried to tie me in a pretzel) and gave me some meds, Prednisone (steroid) and a muscle relaxer. Damn if the cure wasn't as bad as then problem. The Prednisone made it so I couldn't sleep and had my belly tied in knots and the muscle relaxers were messing with my vision and my head.
After a week of that I finally gave up on them last Friday. The side effect were simple worst than the back pain and I couldn't stomach finishing out the prescriptions. I instead took some Advil put an Icy-Hot patch on my back and went out and shoveled 10 inches of really heavy wet snow late Friday night. Back felt about 80-85% the next morning for the match and after shoveling the snow three more times this weekend I think I am on the mend. I definitely learned that me and Prednisone do not get along.
