I learned two new French words from Monica last night, both of which mean roughly the same thing: truc and machin. They both mean something like "thing" or "thingy".

I've been trying to think of regional expressions that are Canadian or Vancouverian or Pacific Northwest-ian. I got 2nd in the spelling bee. I'm okay with that, since I got four words wrong. You could get one wrong in the first round, and if you got two wrong, you could buy yourself back in for 20 bucks since it was a charity fundraiser.
