For some time, like a couple of years, I have been trying to remember the title of a Dick Francis novel I read many, many years ago. Chapter 1 stuck in my head - main guy was handcuffed to his steering wheel. I've been surreptitiously checking out Chapter 1 in DF books at markets & in op shops etc, to no avail. I went into a Red Cross op shop and they'd colour-coded the spines of their books. It did my head in. I had to read along them three times as my eyes kept glazing over. The shelves were cubes, about 5 cubes high by 6 wide and the books started with white at the top left and finished with black on the bottom right. That's not how I want to see them ( Read more... )

Caloundra Qld is a good place to include in an op shop crawl as there are 8 or 9 within 3 blocks. I started my search at the Information Centre as when I was last up here for book club camp, we found the centre kept a list of all op shop/reycle shop/antique/book shops on their computer and were happy to print off a page of addresses.
