Today was dreary but surprisingly mild. We haven't had any snow yet this year, but it was a wet weekend.

The mud is slowly drying and someone went and raked around the building, so things are getting marginally less ugly and difficult to walk through around here. It's also sunny and not too cold today, which is nice. I'm hoping things start to bud and sprout before long. I planted bulbs last fall and I'm anxious to see how they turn out.

I spent my first full day in California last week in San Francisco. I had a lot of good food and saw some wonderful architecture. There are seriously streets where all the houses look less like places where real people live, and more like something out of a fantasy land inhabited by lively characters in whimsical costumes. It's amazing what you can accomplish when your DSL is out for two and a half days running and you're off work that whole time. I did laundry, ran errands, cleaned, and finished a kitchen decorating project involving a bunch of origami cranes that I had started over a year ago. So I had a last minute work-related trip to northern Minnesota last week. Really northern. I mean like "make a wrong turn and 'Whoops, that's a border crossing...'"* kind of northern.

It was extremely flat and more than a little swampy.

This weekend it was a trip south to visit my cousin. ( We went to Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry )

It may be nearly two in the morning, but I FINALLY MADE THE IPOD WORK WITH MY COMPUTER!

That was way harder than it ought to have been. I want my walkman back.

Then I went and downloaded the audio tour of the museum exhibit I'm going to this weekend. It's like I'm living in the future.
