The bad news: Remember in January when my MacBook Air hinge broke? It would appear the hinges have a lifespan of 11 months. Yes, the same exact thing happened again a few days ago.

Several big yays in my life:

Today I completed the second draft of The Overworld! This means that I finished rewriting it from the beginning to the end. It definitely doesn't mean I'm done working on it. The beginning especially needs another serious edit. The middle and end might not be too far from how I want them to be. But in any case, ( Read more... )

Something happened that was bad, and that involved my novel. Not the story, but the words themselves. What happened was that I opened up my novel file, and everything that I wrote yesterday was gone. Over 3,000 words were no longer there, and the timestamp on the file was from the day before. ( What went wrong, and what I did about it. )

About 3 minutes after I posted my last entry, my power supply went up in smoke. Like, seriously, there were maybe some sparks, and then definitely smoke, coming from the bit near where it plugs into the computer, right where the cord thickens. (I have a G4 PowerBook.)
