One of the frustrating aspects of crochet projects is finding the right yarn. Here, I basically have 2 stores each of 2 national chains (Jo-Ann's & Michael's) to buy from. This morning, I went shopping for additional yarn for my skirt project. The stores (note the plural) didn't have enough skeins of the Brick color to finish the project. (Forget about trying to match dye lots. They didn't have enough Brick yarn period.) So I changed my design. I bought the additional yarn in a Cranberry color. I'm going to alternate ( Read more... )

Today, I calculated that I have at least an additional 15+ hours of solid crocheting to do in order to finish this project. That's 15+ hours of "if everything goes as planned" crocheting. I ... I kinda wish I hadn't calculated that. On top of that revelation, I discovered I don't have enough yarn either. Like I said. Urk.

Two more crochet projects to share and then I'll have posted all that I've completed at this point. First, an Ecru Green sun hat and then an Aqua Pink mobius wrap. Pics behind the LJ cut.

Despite how it may seem, I was actually very crochet productive in June and into July. So productive that I didn't even have time to take and process photos. I'm playing catch up now. After making the strawberry shrug, I decided that there were aspects of it that I could improve. (In this case, "improve" means to make it closer to my liking.) By playing with the size and the stitch pattern, I came up with this prototype.

The stitch is the "star" stitch. The shawl "steps" down with each row being shorter than the previous one. Hence, the name.

Well, sorta. Actually, I just stopped on the shawl. I ran out of yarn and decided not to buy any more. The shawl was my own design. It wasn't working out quite like I envisioned.
