Vadim Perelman to direct 'Atlas'

Can't really speak on this guy, as I've never seen his work.  I'm confident that Angelina Jolie will make a great Dagny Taggart, though.

That's right - the movie of Neil Gaiman's Stardust opens in 8 days.  I am so going to see it.  Sadly, my favorite date won't be in town, but other company would be most welcome.  Anyone want to come along?

I watched Be Cool last night, and I enjoyed it.  It's not quite as good a film as Get Shorty, but it is more lighthearted and in a number of ways more entertaining, including the ways in which it makes fun of itself as a sequel film.  It's missing Gene Hackman and Renee Russo, but it adds Harvey Keitel, Vince Vaughn, and Uma Thurman.  But the ( Read more... )

As soon as you get the chance, go out and rent (or buy) Mirrormask.  Written by Neil Gaiman, directed by Dave McKean, and produced by the Jim Henson company, this is one of the most amazing movies I've seen in a long time.  It's contemporary fantasy the way contemporary fantasy is supposed to be done.

It's in my chest and in my sinuses, giving me a headache, a cough, a sore throat, sneezles, and a runny nose. Phucking Phlegm.

I just watched Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and I loved it. Cute, creepy, funny, and a little bit psychotic - just the way I like 'em!

Just watched House of Flying Daggers, and it is a great movie!  I'm a big fan of kung-fu fantasy epics anyway, of course, but this one, like Crouching Tiger and Hero, did a great job of bringing the personal aspects of the story to life.  It was a wonderful, sad story, with a nicely twisting plot, deep, complex characters, marvelous acting, and ( Read more... )
