I need to load up my Kobo for winter break -- dragging books down to the coast and back is rather unwieldy --  and I could use some nudges in the direction of good reads. All the different 'what should I read next' sites are not being helpful, as they keep directing me to stuff I've already read, or books I know I have no interest in.

You know what's fun?

When you take a muscle relaxant for your back before bed that knocks you out good-style, but wake up feeling groggy as hell to the point where three espressos don't even help. I know better than to go fix myself a fourth -- I don't have a death wish -- but still. Ugh.

I'm particularly fond of the X-Men Noir imprint. This is no secret.

The thing is, I'm not the only one. I know that those of you on my flist who have read X-Men Noir have loved it, and the whole thing received a huge amount of critical acclaim. Yesterday was lovely. Absolutely lovely. First thing in the morning, I was able to sit on my back porch and read for a couple hours in the wonderfulwonderfulwonderful sunshine. I didn't have to wear a sweater at all throughout the day, right up until it got dark. Spring has sprung, it seems.

It's been a while since I last housesat, and I finally have the freedom to sing as loud as I want inside the house without anyone giving me hell for it.
