I'm particularly fond of the X-Men Noir imprint. This is no secret.
The thing is, I'm not the only one. I know that those of you on my flist who have read X-Men Noir have loved it, and the whole thing received a huge amount of critical acclaim. Daredevil Noir was freaking amazing too, and the two runs of Spiderman Noir were great. Even Deadpool Pulp was pretty good. The only ones I didn't develop a taste for were Wolverine Noir and Weapon X Noir. I never read the Iron Man or Punisher books, so I can't comment on them. BUT STILL. The X-Men, Daredevil, and Spiderman books were fantastic and I love them with a ridiculous sort of ardency.
As you (or at least I) do when you love a work, you look for transformative/derivative works...which is really just a fancy way of saying I WANT FANDOM DAMMIT.
I turned to google the other day, jonesing hard for Marvel Noir fic. Not just noir flavoured, but fic based in the Marvel Noir world.
I wanted absolutely screwed up Matt/Eliza. I wanted Felicia/Peter/Mary-Jane. I wanted the fantastic sociopaths that are the X-Men, preferably featuring trigger-happy Scott (twisted relationship with Jean or Emma -- GOOD GRAVY YES EMMA -- optional). I wanted to see slice-of-life with Remy at the Creole Club, maybe with Marie thrown in for good measure.
I was at the point where I was seriously ready to pay money for it. For fic. For fanart. For anything. I think I still may be, because there is NOTHING OUT THERE. Nothing on LJ, nothing on the Pit, and apparently nothing on the web at large.
WHY YOU FAIL ME INTERNETS? WHY?
*bats eyes* Oh fliiiiiiiist...
Seriously folks. Anything in the Marvel Noir universe. Please, if you know of any -- ANY -- then hook a girl up.
...dammit. I'm going to have to end up writing some of this stuff myself, aren't I?
On that note, a question. What would people's thoughts be on a Marvel Noir community? I'd be willing to start it, likely once I get back from Quebec, but the question would be if there's enough interest out there. I'm thinking not just amongst you fine people reading this, but out there in LJ land in general. Is the existence of such a community warranted?
Comments? Questions? Concerns? Coconuts? Some freaking fic?
