While I know that her sound is not for everybody, I can't help but plug a song or two of hers. It's true that not all of her songs exactly jive with me, but it always seems her personal ones hit home.

Once's "Falling Slowly" is all-around a really beautiful song. I hope it gets the Oscar. (See the clip here) A pair of poor musicians play together in a music store because they cannot afford a piano.
Tho, I'm a little saddened that "If You Want Me" wasn't nominated. It's got a haunting quality, even if the other one is catchier. (see it here

Seriously, me and my sis watched the five released DVDs consecutively yesterday (and partially re-watched some today). THE MUSIC ROCKS!!! I've listened to both the original soundtrack and the dubbed music...and they're BOTH really good.
Just saw Once, a modern musical/film, but there is no cheesiness, no dance numbers, no fancy camera-work...all of the music comes from two characters ("Guy" and "Girl" -- everyone stays anonymous) who are musicians doing odd jobs in Dublin.
