Ugh, Rook has pink eye. In both eyes. I've never had it, so it's entirely foreign to me. We took him to the doctor ($70) yesterday and got some eyedrops ($15) and it's already clearing up. He's out of school until Tuesday. When he returns, it will be to take a standardized reading test. At least he's good at reading and can practice at home. Still ( Read more... )

So, Rook's 6th birthday party never happened. On Saturday morning he was puking, feeling generally ill, and running a fever, so we cancelled at Chuck E Cheese. The poor little guy :(. Oh man, last night and today I was crazily productive. Last night I completed all of my reading for this whole week. Tonight in a bit I'll start on the novel we're discussing next week (Faulkner's Light in August). My reading was sort of odd. The readings are held at a local art theatre (not on the main stage). During my turn, there was a dance class going on in an adjacent room. This caused polka music to bleed over into our room and occasional stomp sounds (maybe they were clogging?). Anyway, it was a weird backdrop for my work. Still, I think it went well ( Read more... )

All right, Tim has a job! Not a great job, but a j-o-b nonetheless. (Pending him passing the drug test & background check, which there's no reason he shouldn't pass those.)
