So, Rook's 6th birthday party never happened. On Saturday morning he was puking, feeling generally ill, and running a fever, so we cancelled at Chuck E Cheese. The poor little guy :(. He couldn't go to his own party or go to most of the Mardi Gras parades (by Monday and Tuesday he felt well enough to go out for a bit).
I thought he'd go back to school today, but last night/this morning he woke up at around 2 a.m. and threw up. He was running a fever again, so I called him in. I'm not sure if he'll go in tomorrow--it'll depend on if he makes it through tonight without a fever or puking, his morning temp, and how he feels. We're a bit worried about him. He hasn't been eating much at all, and he's already a pretty slim guy to begin with. His arms already look smaller and his chest is really puny. His ribs are more visible than usual. Obviously if he's still ill tomorrow we'll be calling a doctor. I'm pretty sure he's just been fighting the flu, since it's been going around his school. But, I'm starting to really worry about dehydration (he absolutely will not drink Pedialyte, Gatorade, or Powerade). He's been drinking a lot of water.
That's the downside of a February birthday, I guess--it's during a huge flu season. Hell, I'm still trying to shake off the cough from hell so I don't wheeze when I breathe and have every laugh turn to a hacking fit. Ugh. Phlegm.
