And my, what a month it's been!

Rachel continues to be very hale and hearty, and wants to be fed all the time -- which is a good thing, because the doctors are being picky about her weight. But at the same time they say that she looks very good and is clearly very healthy, so that's all right.

There are some days which just go well on all counts, and they need to be savored. Today was such a day, for a number of reasons:

Peire & I have returned from the family sojourn to Orlando/Kissimmee, which followed hard upon my trip to St. Augustine. We think we haven't entirely killed our budget, which is a good thing. Today I went to the midwife to have glucose levels taken -- and was informed that I have satisfactory blood pressure levels, a good level of iron, fine health...but the sugar levels in my blood are WAY too high. "What can I do about this?" I asked ( Read more... )

Today we had the annual Blessing of Animals in celebration of St. Francis' feast day at Mission San Luis. Now, I'm aware that St. Francis' day was actually a week ago Saturday -- 10/4 -- but the reason for MSL's late scheduling of the event was deliberately calculated. Since last Monday was Labor Day and many businesses were closed (banks, particularly), today has been an especially harried day for getting stuff done. But I'm glad to say that due to my efforts this afternoon, the utilities will remain on, as will my telephone & internet service. All good things!
