Busy Busy Busy!

Since last Monday was Labor Day and many businesses were closed (banks, particularly), today has been an especially harried day for getting stuff done. But I'm glad to say that due to my efforts this afternoon, the utilities will remain on, as will my telephone & internet service. All good things!

I'm also in preparation for a road trip up to New Jersey to meet some of my new in-laws, and in-laws-to-be. Peire's brother is getting married in November, but they're having various pre-wedding festivities (like the bridal shower, a really early bachelor party, etc.) next week. So we'll be driving up to this, heading up the Eastern Seaboard. One thing that really excites me is that we'll be passing through the Baltimore area, which is where some of my old Eckerd College buddies live. We'll be staying with one set of those, and dining with others. Anyhow, today we also purchased the bridal shower gift (a coffee grinder & fair trade coffee beans) today, and I'm hoping the couple like it.

Once I got home from all my errands, I cut out a very nice blue velveteen coat/robe for Peire's SCA attire. It will go over the red tunic that many have seen him wear to events of this last year, and I'll eventually add on a coordinating hood and hat. When I'm done, he ought to be quite the dapper fellow. I'm hoping to have at least the coat done for the Barony of Oldenfeld's Harvest event, perhaps the hat as well. We've already got a hood that will be serviceable, if not quite the perfectly coordinated one I intend to produce.

But now I'm preparing dinner -- we'll be having Taegi Kalbi Gui, which is the Korean style of broiled pork spare ribs. I'm serving it with rice and vegetables, but alas! I have run out of kimchi!

My 1 mile walk this morning was down to Publix to pick up some much-needed soy sauce; yesterday's mile, however, was around the cul-de-sac to the techno-goth music of the Mortal Kombat soundtrack.
