Last night while walking my mile around my cul-de-sac, I was listening to Manheim Steamroller's
Halloween Monster Mix CD, wherein they take various "classics from the crypt" (such as the Sorceror's Apprentice, In the Hall of the Mountain King, Night on Bald Mountain, etc.) and Manheim Steamroller-ize them, much like their famous Christmas music albums. The catch on this album is that they've also included lots of spooky noises in between the tracks. So there were a number of times when I heard a noise (while wearing my headphones), and I wasn't sure if it was something on the CD, or something actually nearby! A bit creepy, really! Today while walking, I decided to play something a little less frightening -- the greatest hits of the '80s pop group Roxette.
On a different but related topic...Mission San Luis is sending me to the
Florida Seafood Festival to man an information booth there from October 30th to November 1st! If you're planning on attending that festival, look for me there! However, this does mean that my Halloween Open House (which I normally hold on October 31st, regardless of what weekday that happens to be) is going to held at a delayed date -- I'll be scheduling it for the evening of Sunday, November 2nd. I guess this means I'm actually holding a Dia de los Muertos party!
In any case, it will be much the same routine as you've known me to do in the past; I'm inviting people to get dressed up in their Halloween costumes/appropriate holiday attire, and come 'round to my house. I always ask people to bring refreshments to contribute to the spread if they can, but what I most desire are my guests' presence.
I've not had time to even consider what costume to make for myself. I'm extremely tempted to resurrect the Queen of Hearts costume (as shown in my profile), since I like that one so much.
