They baked up nicely and it smells absolutely wonderful in the house. Pity my folks aren't home and there's no one around to share these with. Maybe I'll drop off some with my neighbor. Seems a shame not to enjoy these fresh out of the oven.

Haven't done this recipe in maybe a couple years now, but had a hankering for cinnamon rolls so I dusted off this Cook's Country recipe. It was an excuse to test out a fresh batch of yeast I bought, which did swimmingly today. Got a very good rise with the dough ( Read more... )

Single-serve pies in a jar.

I was going to use ramekins, but these would be even better as they'll freeze better. I'm going to try converting the triple chocolate mousse cake into individual servings so I can avoid the whole slicing problem.

Plus it's so gosh darn cute and convenient to have pre-made goodies ready to heat at a moment's notice.

I made a coconut cream pie this weekend (well, 2 of them) for a friend's birthday. It turned out well, in spite of some snafus while making the crust (it was so gosh darn STICKY!). My dad found an old square dish my late grandma left behind. It's stamped "Glasware" and is a translucent white color with a painted pattern on the side. I remember her using it for baking sweet rice desserts (the dish is about 8" per side ( Read more... )
