The world keeps getting crazier and I keep clinging tightly to my little corner of reasonableness and creativity and understanding. Not trying to hide my head, just trying to keep it above water and not give into despair.

I have some incredibly mundane sense memories right now, ones that hit me more often than not. On my drive to work I cross a four lane “main street” type street in one neighborhood, which is lined with shops and row homes. Extending from snidegrrl's recent posts, I'm thinking about the difference between empathy and compassion. I feel like I have a lot of the first and not so much of the second, which when I look at the text book definitions seems kind of odd.
