So this is Semi-Lockdown Day 11 (Day 114 of Lockdown)

Jul 14, 2020 16:09

I am very glad our ridiculous government has finally made the decision to make masks mandatory in shops as well as on public transport. Anything that may help prevent transmission of the virus is really a no brainer at the moment. I wore a mask for nearly three hours on Friday and got used to it quite quickly even with glasses on, which does present some problems with steaming up, but if medical staff can wear them for over 12 hours then wearing them for a much shorter time shouldn't be hard /rant mode off.

We went for a walk yesterday to some local gardens, which made a nice change as we haven't been there since the pandemic began. They are really known for their rhododendron and azaleas and we were obviously too late for those, but the gardens are very pleasant to walk around at any time of year.

There are some photos I took on my phone behind the cut.

There is a pond at the entrance and if you look closely you can see waterlilies. Unfortunately they haven't come out very well and the large koi which are usually very visible decided to avoid my photo (attempts to resist urge to say they were feeling coy and fails).

Colourful bedding plants

I'm feeling a bit bitter about sunflowers as mine have been eaten by slugs and snails so it was good to see some uneaten ones!

Herbaceous border with more sunflowers.

Due to extreme horticultural ignorance I don't know what this is but I liked it and so did the bee/wasp on one of the plants.

It was very nice to go back there and feel normal just strolling around. We were also pleased to see that their cosmos weren't flowering yet either as we have been wondering whether ours are ever going to.

Back to the meme.

11. What would be included in your ideal breakfast?

Although I love a full English and I am very partial to scrambled egg and smoked salmon the breakfast I am really craving at the moment is pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup. Yum!

12. How do you decide about meals in your family? Who does the shopping?

That has changed a bit recently. We share the cooking and I cook Monday to Thursday and J cooks Friday to Sunday. In the past we decided what we were going to cook and generally shopped separately as we could just pop in to shops. Now J gets the basics from Tesco Express once or, if Rex (adopted old gent) wants something, twice a week, while I deal with online ordering and keep an eye on what we're short of, which I always did. As we get a veg box I am also in charge of seeing that all of that gets used, which sometimes means some substitution of ingredients in dishes, which again is usually done by me. J is a better cook than I am but I am usually better at finding or devising recipes that will use up all the left over veg (generally carrots).

13. What’s the notification tone on your phone for calls? Texts?

I'm not a fan of phones and usually keep mine on silent so it either buzzes or dings. I couldn't tell you what the ringtone is.

14. Would you rather know how you’re going to die or when you’re going to die?

I wouldn't really like to know either but if I had to choose it would be how and then I would try and do something to prevent it.

The rest of the July question behind the cut.

15 How many cups of water have you drunk today?
16 When you were graduating from school, what did you think your life would look like at your age now? Does it match?
17 Do you prefer pie or cake?
18 When you eat out alone, where do you like to go?
19 Are you more of a “work hard” or “play hard” kind of person?
20 Do you think morality and ethics are absolute or situational?
21 Would you rather relax in a hot tub or a sauna?
22 Do you have a living will or other documentation of an end-of-life care plan?
23 When was the last time you went dancing?
24 Have you ever re-gifted a gift that was given to you?
25 What’s one thing you’ve been procrastinating on that you could take care of today?
26 Would you rather live in a house or an apartment?
27 Do you have a favorite mixed drink or cocktail?
28 What is your favorite word right this minute?
29 What clubs, groups, or teams were you in while in high school/upper grades?
30 What’s a good museum nearest to where you live?
31 If you had to choose one or the other, would you rather live where it’s hot all the time or cold all the time?
