Very belated (and loooooooooooooong) update

Oct 07, 2011 11:40

Time to get back into the swing of posting regularly, I guess. RL's been so tiring that I just haven't had the motivation lately, but it's time to smile, put my head up, and hop back on the horse. Isolating myself socially is a bad thing and I know that, so I'm resolving (again) to do better. Despite the prolonged radio silence, things haven't been ( Read more... )

ptsd, beading, family, sanctuary, rabid fangirl, welcome to walmart, update, work

Oh, you get to deal with the Customer Service center. Lovely.
Just, wow, at those people who got arrested. Idk even how one would respond to that. Seriously. Wtf.

Oh my gosh. The Wally World in the town I grew up in has been "upgrading" to a Supercenter for what feels like forever. Apparently they were supposed to start three years ago, and then the recession hit and it was all put on hold, and remains that way, I guess, for the foreseeable future. *headdesks*

I'm legitimately curious to see how they wrap up the time travel stuff, but after that, idk how I'll feel about everything. My adoration for Sanctuary's been waning since the second half of S3, I think.

Customer Service is... interesting. I love the customers who walk up with "returns" that don't have receipts and who, just coincidentally, have recently done no-receipt returns at every other Walmart in Northeastern Ohio (and one in Pennsylvania). Happens every day. Usually just makes us laugh and roll our eyes after the customer's left, but I had one the other day who did it straight-faced with a four year old girl in her arms. Yeah, Betty filed a report on that one. I hate idiots who involve their CHILDREN in shit like that. There is a special place in hell for people like that ( ... )

Oh, wow. I mean, intellectually, I know that happens, but actually watching it...ugh. I can't believe people do that do their kids ( ... )

people are such freaking idiots. it's like "oh, hey, i have a kid so I can't be doing bad shit" but what if the cops are called or something and the poor child SEES. she was two or three it looked like. gorgeous little thing, too, who's probably going to grow up to be a complete punk just like her mama. SO sad and enraging ( ... )

I do agree re: pace. I think they were just thrown planning in 20 eps vs the regular 13, and had trouble keeping it all put together well enough to make it really roll.

I think I attribute most of my ambivalent feelings toward Watson in the first ep as just the time difference; like you said, he's young and a lot less level-headed and more likely to rush into something.

Ahaha, me too. Once, I sat down and figured out how many times in SG1 they changed the universe without any serious repercussions...starting way back in S1! LOL, but I'd love to see little inconsistencies. Another show I watch did something similar, and when he came back, everything was just a little different and off, and they really made the show work with it. I hope Sanctuary can do the same!

it's weird to see a Watson who isn't all ancient and wise. even by Normandy, he was already in probably his nineties and with so much pain and loss behind him that he'd gentled considerably from a much younger, rasher James who was still pissed at John Druitt for breaking Helen Magnus' heart. As weird as it is to see him so different, I actually consider it really good writing and acting, since it's a progression that makes sense chronologically. It just takes getting used to (and I start to see some of why Sherlock Holmes was written as ambitious, rude, brusque, etc -- one assumes that he'd already started to mellow in the decade and a half or more since taking the Source. he must have been kind of an arrogant, pushy, impatient ass right after taking it ( ... )

Yup; she tweeted she wasn't gonna be in as many episodes, and I know Lili has really pulled back because of it.
