So I'm still making progress toward finishing up at KU. I recently turned in the first draft of another large chunk of text, with (I think it ended up being) 16 figures. The part I'm currently working on isn't turning out to be nearly as large or ugly as I'd thought, so it should be done fairly soon too ( Read more... )

Friday I had a dissertation committee meeting. It could have gone a lot worse. As it is, they scrapped a good chunk of what I had planned, and wrote me a new plan. Trish got fired/quit preemptively from the live-in position, so we had to relocate. We're now back about a block from the townhouse I'd been in for the previous few years. This week in the intro lab I'm teaching this semester, we're doing a history of life thing, and one of the excercises involves passing out to each group of students a handful of animal toys, and having them make a phylogeny (family tree-type-thing) for them.
