So I'm still making progress toward finishing up at KU. I recently turned in the first draft of another large chunk of text, with (I think it ended up being) 16 figures. The part I'm currently working on isn't turning out to be nearly as large or ugly as I'd thought, so it should be done fairly soon too.
I got the part-time position I interviewed for in Tennessee, but not the full-time. When I talked to the guy for the latter, he said "position" as if it were singular, not plural - and that was the one where they said they were looking to fill 7-8 positions, so I'm not sure what the deal really is there. Oh well. I've got a couple more leads I'm still chasing.
Trish got her job at the
Elephant Sanctuary, though they've been giving her the run-around about her TB test. Basically, after being through the Peace Corps health care system, she now tests positive for TB (which is actually just testing for the antibodies), despite not actually having the disease, or any latent bacterial population. But the Sanctuary has never had to deal with anyone with that kind of status before, and they don't really know what to do, so they're making it up as they go, which means a lot of precautionary medical stuff (chest x-ray) and legal paperwork, to cover their own collective ass. She was originally supposed to quit her job here at
Freightquote last week, but with the Sanctuary dragging its feet about the whole thing, she's staying on at least until the end of this week. She still hasn't gotten an official start date from the Sanctuary yet, though we're hoping it'll be the 23rd (originally it was the 16th, hence quitting last week).
I've got a couple new rants that have been building for a while, but it may still be a while before I get them out. I have, however, recently been debating a bozo on a mailing list, and I'll be posting transcripts of that argument in the near future.
