Thought I might get out today, but the docs thought that they needed to take more time on the IV antibiotics; this morning, it looked like I was getting worse, not better, and that the red area was expanding again.    Lovely.  So it looks like I may escape tomorrow…

We’re facing a foot of snow or better in the next 24 hours, and the phone and internet are *already* up and down like a windowblind today.  Highly annoying.  Comcast says it’s weather-related failures - which makes me worry about what we’ll do if we get first snowed in and then frozen with sub-zero temperatures!

Various reports that the WPA wireless security systems have been broken pretty thoroughly, which is a big reason why my home wireless setup is top of the line on encryption.  This is a problem because some older laptops won’t handle it, and in the *brief* time such laptops are around, I have to either come up with a clear unencrypted signal OR hand ( Read more... )

…being all slick and clever and having all of your data and work up on the web is pretty damn useless when your all-in-one cable, phone and internet all go down for the bulk of the day.

Aaaaaaargh.  And now, to bed.

Susan managed to drop her new Centro phone in the sink, and it’s apparently good and fried.  We got a Torx T-6 to open it up, and she and Rich Rostrom were working on it, but it sounds like it’s a goner.    So she’s getting a essentially-free-after-rebate replacement…she uses her PDA constantlty, and backs it up regularly, so it’s not a total loss…

Yes, I will be at Windycon over the weekend.  I’ll be not-very-mobile. I’ll probably locate a prime lurking post and hang there a lot.  Mere will be with me.
