Recently a building near me was torn down and it really brought some memories back. Mind you the business itself that was originally there has been gone for at least a couple decades, but I recall the Bob's Big Boy so vividly. Well, my picks were as horrid as promised, but I will take that when couple with a win by the Arizona Cardinals ! Finally we are into September and close to "non-summer". Still quite a bit of heat to endure... but this is always the marker for me... that I am close enough to the change of season that it is easier to cope. #24 moved into some rarified air today, taking his 84th Sprint Cup win, tying Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip for third most all-time. Gotta say that Gordon is my favorite Cup driver and I enjoyed listening to the race. I do not see him catching David Pearson's 105 wins for second, but he should be able to get at least one more win and take third ( Read more... )

Today I decided to cook... something I do far too seldom. Normally I only do crock pot and stove top cooking, as it is too hot most times for oven cooking (I have no air-conditioning, just an evaporative cooler). Today's recipe : Spicy drumsticks w/ pomegranate salsa and peppers :

This was a really great week and I am bubbling over with silly energy.  A few bullet headlines :

• I picked four Anaheim peppers from a plant I am helping tend. As a person cursed with a brown thumb I feel great to see a plant that I helped with go from some little sprout to a pepper producer.
