Dar Williams, "By Way of Sorrow"This is one of those quintessential superhero songs for me.  It's got a point where a whole chorus comes in that nearly reduces me to tears each time.  It's all about making it through the hard times to a brighter day...it fits most heroes and most people I know.  :)

A couple of rather sad and angtsy (but lovely) songs tonight.

Suzanne Vega, "Bound."  From her most recent album.  It's a beautiful song about a relationship where neither member can ever quite give up on the other, but I was arrested by the starkness of the last lines especially:

Mmmmm.  My latest obsession is Laura Veirs, who sounds a bit like Lisa Loeb and Jill Sobule, but with a more surreal sensibility and a sometimes slightly-unsettling instrumentation.  Her album "Year of Meteors" (nice title!) has a lot of fantastic songs, but two really stood out to me, for obvious reasons:
