Survived my first day of teaching with moderate to good success. Whoohoo me! Random highlight of the first day: three of the boys (note my sexist surprise here) the BOYS in my intermediate high school Latin class have read all the Twilight books. Random. And awesome.

Ok. I said I was going to read 25 novels this year. I figured that was one book per two weeks with a two week buffer. But, already, my count is off. What do I do for a half-novel?  I guess I just say that I'm at two and a half and read a series of short stories at some point.

It was good. Not jump up and down, sobbing, screaming, I-have-to-see-this-every-day-until-it-leaves-the-theaters good, but good. I was entertained. I would have been entertained even had I  not read the books. Probably more so in fact. Symptomatic of the fact that a film rendering of a book is always, only a rendering, not a moving mirror. I'm now in chapter 9 of New Moon, and it's gotten better. I think I'll not be disappointed at buying Eclipse in hard-back after all.

 OK,  with a title like that, I should clarify, Twilight is an amazing book!

But I drove to the other side of town last night to get the next Twilight book, New Moon, largely because of the feeling of euphoria I felt reading the scenes with the hero of the first book, Edward Cullen.

So. EBC: 796. Have I cataloged them all? No. Are they all on shelves so that the department chair can do TA and Adjunct orientation tomorrow morning at 8:30? Yes. Well, almost. I found two more in the piles of non-Classics books.

But I have cataloged 610 Classics related books. In 40 hours. And I really don't want to have to come back and do this again tomorrow. But there's no way around it. I think I'm gonna start on the other texts and get an hour in on those before I call it quits and head home.
