It was good. Not jump up and down, sobbing, screaming, I-have-to-see-this-every-day-until-it-leaves-the-theaters good, but good. I was entertained. I would have been entertained even had I not read the books. Probably more so in fact. Symptomatic of the fact that a film rendering of a book is always, only a rendering, not a moving mirror. Considering the challenge of packing 500+ pages into two hours, it was a splendid feat. The only difference between the book and the movie worth discussing was in the thematic focus: the book focused on Bella and Edward's relationship (which, the director says in several of the preview sorts of videos, is defined by the fact that "he is a vampire and she is not"), where as the film is much more heavily focused on the fact that there are vampires living in Washington state. If you haven't read the books, you should. If you haven't seen the film, you should. If you have to choose between one and the other, read the book.
And five more 100 things about me:
16) I grew up in the high desert of Southern California.
17) I now live surrounded by the high desert of Western Montana.
18) One of my favorite shared features of the two is sage brush - one of the best smells in the world, which is different spring, fall, and burning.
19) I have never been on a boat of any kind.
20) I have never been fishing.
