Well, two exams down this week, two to go. So far, everything's going ok, there's been questions I've been able to answer, which has been a relief. I was terrified about today's exam (French linguistics) but there were three questions I could do, so all was well. Weird times: I just got an email from my French tutor, confirming the date for our Schools Dinner (post exam posh dinner with tutors etc), which he started with this smiley :-) You maybe have to know my French tutor to get why this is weird - let's just say he's quite a traditional guy, and I wouldn't really expect him to know what a smiley is, ( Read more... )

Well, sort of. The rest of my exams last week went well, which is always good. My French oral text was about how English is taught in France, and reasons why French kids don't speak that good English, so it was right up my street and I (hopefully) said lots of clever stuff. I have officially started finals today, with my French listening comprehension exam. It actually went pretty well - the text was about the mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë, so I understood what was going on. Hello world. Revision is going ok - I feel like I had quite a productive day yesterday, then I added up hours spent in the library working, and it didn't actually come to that much (just about 5 hours) so that's a bit annoying. Yay, we won the varsity boat race :) Once we got ahead, it was a pretty easy win, and not a very exciting race to watch, really, but still, a win's a win. There was one quite amusing bit - they have the coxes' microphones linked up to their sound system, so they switched to listen to the Oxford (I think) cox at one point, and they had about 30 secs ( Read more... )

Well, I made it back to Oxford safe and sound, and have even started revising! I aim to cover a topic (basically an author) a day, which I think is doable, plus I want to do some language work and some phonetic transcription work every day as well.
