Go Oxford!

Yay, we won the varsity boat race :) Once we got ahead, it was a pretty easy win, and not a very exciting race to watch, really, but still, a win's a win. There was one quite amusing bit - they have the coxes' microphones linked up to their sound system, so they switched to listen to the Oxford (I think) cox at one point, and they had about 30 secs of it before he told the crew to "fucking come on", at which point they switched straight to one of their commentators. I don't think they went back to the coxes at any point. Silly television people - I used to come out with that kind of thing when I coxed, it's hardly uncommon. ITV's commentary was, as ever, hilarious. I think at least one of their commentators usually does the football, according to Phil who was sat next to me, and they tend not to know a whole lot about rowing. At least when the BBC screened it, they knew a thing or two.

Also, my bin smells very bad - they don't get emptied at weekends, because the cleaners aren't in, so mine has three days worth of tea leaves, tea bags, banana skins, apple cores etc in, and yes. It's smelt better, that's for sure.

Today has been all about reading German, which I've been enjoying. I think the only way to really appreciate a big collection like this one (Heine's Buch der Lieder is to just sit and read it. With that in mind, I shall return to it for an hour and a half or so, before Planet Earth, which is apparently being watched on the new big screen in the bar.

Keep it real, kids.
