It's been a number of years since I attended Conglomeration. It's a small, all volunteer run con which is becoming more rare in this day and age. For the last couple of years they didn't really have anything that would be a big draw for me but this year they brought in legendary Star Wars author Timothy Zahn. Had the whole weekend to go up to Metropolis and enjoy their annual Superman Celebration. Once again the wife was working so I was flying solo. This year the festival seems to be in a transition. Wasn’t able to attend the Lexington Comic Con this weekend in the way I usually do since this year it fell on a weekend I was working. They did have late hours on Friday so I was able to drive straight over after work and at least get a couple of hours in. Attended both days of the hometown Derby City Comic Con this weekend and had a nice time. I spent Saturday getting autographs (this is a smaller con but it still had a couple of media guests)and checking out the vendors and spending money. I made the trip to Metropolis again this year even though I had to head back early to work the weekend (I couldn’t find a trade). Went out to Wonderfest (the local modeling con) this weekend and there was a lot to oooh and aaah over. Since it’s the 40th anniversary this year they really went all out with a Star Wars theme, bringing in several Star Wars related guests and even working Star Wars into their Con badges and Con T-shirts. After months of planning and anticipating I finally flew to Orlando to attend Star Wars Celebration. The excitement started early as I was at the boarding gate there were several fellow fans on the same flight down. Went over to Evansville yesterday to check out EvilleCon and visit with the local 501st. EvilleCon is a local, small anime con. I got there after the doors had been open for an hour or so and I wish I had gone earlier. There was absolutely no parking available at the Holiday Inn the con was held at.
